CANAL

A series of works, entitled the Canal was made during the early February and the late March 2019, when I was a resident artist at AGA LAB, Amsterdam, and cyanotype print method on silver leaf was applied for the works. The method uses UV exposure to change surface colors of both, the metal and cyanotype, and longer exposures make deeper colors.
Reflection from silver leaf and blue colors of cyanotype reminded me of water surfaces. I got a fresh inspiration from different appearances between calm movements of canals in Amsterdam and narrow and rapid streams near my home in Japan.
Time flow is often compared with river flow. So what image is possible to represent for me from the canal flow?
