FRAME

The work takes the frame as its motif. Frames typically separate paintings from everyday spaces and protect them from the effects of aging. People have long sought to preserve paintings in their original condition.
However, I accept that my works will change over time. In this work, I explore how the painted frame itself can change over time.
When completed, the surface appears to be entirely silver. Applying drying oil to the surface accelerates the corrosion of the silver leaf, gradually turning it brown. As this process unfolds, parts of the frame gradually emerge and are eventually covered in rust. Rather than preserving an unchanging image, I aim to present the process of change itself, offering a sense of the present moment in which the work is alive.
